The Neuroscience of Employee Engagement

Human resources management.  This sounds like a great free online webinar.  It is free on Sept 26th but you do need to register ahead of time.  Event

Excerpt introduction:  Management insights drawn from breakthoughs in cognitive science  Many studies show a link between high engagement and organizational success, yet until now our understanding of the science of engagement has mostly focused on outcome studies, not on the underlying mechanisms involved.

This session provides fresh insights into our understanding of what engagement is, how to measure it and most important, how to increase it. Drawing from the latest findings in neuroscience, we will explore a series of questions, such as:

What is the actual neural basis of engagement, in other words, what is engagement made up of, if you were to peer inside the brain?
What are the factors that drives engagement in the brain? How does engagement affect the brain? What are the various possible ‘levels’ of engagement?
And finally, how can we more accurately measure engagement?

What You Will Learn
Understand why your current engagement strategies do or don’t work
Discover fresh ideas for increasing engagement
Explore new thinking for measuring engagement
While attending this program is FREE, reservations are required.

Register here for Sept 26th event via The Neuroscience of Employee Engagement.

Meet 3 of Tech’s Foremost Female Founders

Great article for both men and women.  Also article notes time of an upcoming webcast, August 21st.  Recommended.

Excerpt:  Women-owned businesses — 8.3 million of them, in total — are a crucial part of the U.S. economy. Growth by women-owned businesses is surging at a pace faster than that of any other group — over the past 15 years, 1.5 times greater than other groups. There’s much to celebrate, and yet there’s still work to be done and lessons to be learned.

Over the past three weeks, we’ve shed light on women-owned businesses, spurred by American Express OPEN‘s recent report, The State of Women-Owned Businesses [PDF]. We’ve spoken with prominent female founders about their influences, their ambitions and challenges, in hopes of helping other aspiring female founders to embark on the journey, or to keep going. We’ve named 44 female founders who every entrepreneur should know, and it’s sparked quite a conversation in the comments and on social media. Now it’s your turn to ask a few of them your questions about the entrepreneurial journey and how to build your own business.

On Tuesday, August 21 at 2p.m. EST, Mashable is hosting a panel of three female founders, and you are invited to join the conversation on Spreecast with these accomplished women:

Rachel Sklar, Founder, Change the Ratio and TheLi.st
Angela Jia Kim, Founder, Om Aroma and Savor the Success
Kellee Khalil, Founder and CEO, Lover.ly
Allison Silver, VP Brand, Advertising & Advocacy, American Express OPEN

SES San Francisco: 360 Degrees of Optimization #SESSF

The event is scheduled for August — within a couple of weeks.    See more information on link provided.  If you are interested you should register now.

Excerpt:  As one of the original and largest conferences with a focus on search engine marketing, SES content runs the gamut of strategies and tactics to help marketers improve their performance. This isn’t an easy task in a world where platforms like Google and Facebook can change the rules from one minute to the next.

SES may have had it’s roots in search marketing, but like the “best of the best” search engine marketers, SES has adapted to the changing marketplace and evolved content offerings including: mobile, social, content marketing and big trends like Big Data.

The notion of optimization is increasingly viewed as a holistic approach that can impact discovery of content to anyone that is looking. That bigger picture view of marketing performance optimization is something you’ll find in the tracks, presentations and tactics at SES San Francisco. It’s a real 360 degree view of what it means to optimize digital marketing to achieve any kind of marketing goal with any audience on any platform.

Harvard Launches Small Business Mini-MBA

The three-day executive education program will offer small business leaders help with financial strategies for growing companies.

In small business as in much of life, you learn a lot as you go. And for the rest? Harvard has a program for that.
Harvard Business School today announced a new executive education program for small business leaders.

The program, called “Leading Your Small Business Through Its Lifecycle,” aims to help entrepreneurs determine effective financial strategies during different stages of a company’s life. The three-day program, scheduled for June 24-27, will include classroom discussions, case study analysis, and presentations.

The program takes place on the HBS campus and will be open to entrepreneurs with businesses at varying stages of growth that make up to $5 million in annual sales.

Knowledge doesn’t come cheap, of course—the program fee is $7,500—but then again, education is an investment.
